Fantastic Fishing Ahead in the Alexandria Lakes Area

Once again, we had a great opener in Alexandria!  We had some tremendous weather and fishing this past weekend.  The water temps are nearing 60 deg, so there are quite a few lakes kicking out some very nice fish.  There were plenty of eater sized walleye 15″-18″ caught as well as a decent number of 21″-27″ walleye.  We also released a lot of fish.  The best depths really varied from lake to lake.  We caught fish from 3′ to 33′.  A jig and a minnow or a lindy rig and a minnow produced the most fish across the board.

The panfish are also biting very well!  The sunfish and crappie have moved a bit deeper now and they’re getting ready for the spawn.  I’d look to areas with pencil reeds in 3-5 feet of water.  A small jig with a plastic, wax worm or crappie minnow have been doing well.  Set your bait a couple feet under a bobber and have some fun.

The Alexandria area will be producing some of the best fishing state wide over the next couple months.  We have more lakes and more fish to make your next vacation the best one yet.  Feel free to contact me if you need helping picking a lake that fits all of your family’s needs.  With 100’s of lakes to choose from you will most certainly find what you’re looking for!
