Strong Walleye Bite in the Alexandria Lakes Area

The walleye fishing in Alexandria still remains very strong.  In fact the past week has been as good as it gets.  We were able to catch quality limits for every angler that entered the boat!  As well as some big fish to let go!  It’s important to note that catching walleye at this rate in mid-July in no easy task.  It truly shows the quality of our great fisheries in the Alexandria area!

The fish are holding on the outside weed edges in 16’-22’ feet of water.  Underwater points close to thick weeds has been best for me.  Lindy rigs and leeches moved slowly through these areas have been putting a lot of fish in the boat.  In addition to the Lindy rigs, some anglers are doing well on spinners and crank baits too.

These patterns will produce fish for the next month of more, so now is fun time to get the family out on the water.  There are many other types of fish biting as well.  On any given night we also catch: northern, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, sunfish and perch, so there’s rarely a dull moment.  If you have questions feel free to contact me anytime.  There are plenty of fish to go around so I’m happy to help!  Good luck!
