Central Lakes Trail - The Central Lakes Trail is a former railroad route turned into a paved bike trail that runs through 3 counties and 10 communities. This trail begins in the city of Fergus Falls, runs through the beautiful Alexandria lakes area and ends in the city of Osakis. Trail users will enjoy the many differing landscape views ranging from open grassland & prairie, lakes, wetlands, farmland, and forested rolling hills.

Lake Wobegon Trail - Named after the fictitious Lake Wobegon town in Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion”, this trail is a 62 mile trail which was once the abandoned railroad corridor that runs from Avon to Sauk Centre. This trail connects to the Central Lakes Trail in Osakis, just 10 miles east of Alexandria.

Jake’s Bikes - Located near the Central Lakes Trail, Jake’s Bikes will make sure you get pedaling. Jake’s offers sales for bikes and equipment, service and adjustments, and some great rentals if you don’t want to bring your own bike. Many different rentals to choose from, including a 4-person pedal car!

Scenic Airplane Rides - Experience the lakes country from the air during a scenic airplane tour. Located at Chandler Field Municipal Airport, rides can be arranged by making a reservation at 320-762-2111.

Glacial Ridge Trail Scenic Byway - A popular scenic route for both motorcycles and cars, take a scenic trip back in time on the trail of an ancient glacier!

Arrowwood Stables - Enjoy some of the finest horseback riding Minnesota has to offer. With a 30-horse stable, the resort offers a riding ring and trails through beautiful landscapes. The guided 45 minute trail rides are available every hour. Call to make a reservation.

Silver Sage Ranch - Silver Sage Ranch is a family friendly horse ranch for horseback riding, horseback riding lessons, Boy and Girl Scout horsemanship programs, trail rides and camping opportunities.

Alexandria Shooting Park - features 19 trap fields (4 lighted), 1 lighted skeet field, and archery course.

American Heritage Hunt Club - a licensed shooting preserve located between Eagle Bend and Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. Rooted in preserving our hunting legacy, we have 200 natural habitat acres readily available for your recreational use.

Elk Lake Heritage Preserve - Hunters will find hours of enjoyment pursuing pheasant, chukar and quail in this beautiful, natural environment.

Long Lake Lodge - Hunting opportunities at the licensed hunting preserve occur from September to April for pheasants and quail. No license required!

Lakes Area Jet Ski Rentals - Summer fun at a reasonable rate! Offering jet ski rental, they deliver, pick up, and provide the 1st tank of gas.

Fun Rentals - Fun Rentals offers drop off and pick up rental service to the lake of your choice in the Alexandria area. Rentals include pontoons and jet-ski watercraft. Call for prices and availability.

Faction Marine - Faction Marine sells watercrafts and offers rentals. Rentals include paddleboards, wake surf, wakeboards and tubes. Also offers Wake Surf and Wake Boarding lessons & consultations.

Arrowwood Resort - Rentals include fishing boats, ski boats, pontoons, canoes, paddleboards, kayaks, and paddleboats for use on Lake Darling.

Lake Carlos State Park - A variety of recreational activities revolve around the lake. Clear and deep, Lake Carlos offers visitors a perfect setting for swimming, fishing, boating, camping, hiking and horseback riding.

Minnewaska Kayaks - Kayak rentals and guided kayak tours.

State Parks

Lake Carlos State Park - Sculpted by ancient glaciers, Lake Carlos State Park contains a tamarack bog, marshes, woodland ponds, and lakes. A variety of recreational activities revolve around the lake. Clear and deep, Lake Carlos offers visitors a perfect setting for swimming, fishing, boating, camping, hiking and horseback riding.

Glacial Lakes State Park - The park is located at a crossroads or transition zone between the original prairie land to the west and the central hardwood forests to the east. Only about 1/10 of 1 percent of the original Minnesota prairie remains. The park preserves a portion of rare native prairie including a wide variety of grasses and forbs such as the big and little bluestem grass, Indian grass, prairie clover, pasque flowers, coneflowers, and goldenrods. Enjoy the clear and clean 56-acre Singalness Lake that has its entire watershed inside the park. Glacial Lakes State Park offers numerous campsites, hiking trails, canoe, kayak, paddleboard and snowshoe rentals.

County Parks

Chippewa Park - This unique 40-acre park is 3 miles north of Brandon, MN. A beautiful location between two lakes, the park offers camping, showers and restroom, shelters, picnic tables, swimming beach, playground and grills.

Curt Felt Memorial Park - A small park located in north Alexandria off County Road 42. Featuring a playground, volleyball court, restrooms, picnic shelter and a softball field.

Kensington Runestone Park - Kensington Runestone Park is located on the original farm site of Olaf Ohman. Visit this historic park to view the actual discovery location of the infamous Kensington Runestone. The park consists of 304 acres of wooded, gently rolling land which has two shelters for picnicking, outdoor game fields, trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, a playground area and flower beds. The shelters may be reserved by calling the Douglas County Park Division office at 320-762-2966.

Lake Brophy Park - A nice park overlooking Lake Brophy just west of Alexandria. It has a playground, picnic tables, grills and restroom facilities.

Spruce Hill Park - This 100-acre park is the 2nd largest in the county. Located north of Alexandria near Miltona, this park offers hiking trails, cross country ski trails for winter, picnic tables, grills, shelters, restrooms and a softball field.

City Parks

Alexandria City Park - Located on the northeast side of Lake Agnes and Lake Henry. This park is home to a public swimming beach, restrooms with bathouse, playgrounds, picnic areas, grills, fishing piers and a bandstand.

Big Ole Central Park - Located just north of downtown Alexandria on the south shore of Lake Agnes. Home to Big Ole, a 28-foot tall viking statue, this park also hosts Alexandria’s Farmer’s Market three times a week as well as serving as the trailhead for the Central Lakes Trail.

Dean Melton Fillmore Park - Very large park with huge areas of greenspace, baseball diamond, playgrounds, picnic tables with shelter and Alexandria Skate Park adjacent to it.

Fred Foslien Park - Nice park with horseshoe-shaped pond overlooking Lake Victoria. Amenities include picnic tables, gazebo, playground and basketball hoop.

Geneva Crest Park - Park is close to Lake Geneva and offers sand volleyball court, baseball diamond, playground, picnic tables and grills.

Goose Park - Little pocket park overlooking Lake Winona. Adjacent to Knute Nelson Ballpark, this park has a gazebo and is a great place to feed bread to ducks and geese.

Lake Connie Corner Park - Small pocket park with a small shelter, table and grill. On the shore of Lake Connie.

Legion Park - Little park on the south end of downtown. Amenities include numerous horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, small shelter, picnic tables, basketball courts and flower beds.

Noonan Park - Noonan Park surrounds a small lake in the middle of town. Walking paths all around with picnic tables, grills, walking bridge, basketball court and flower beds. A nice place to watch and feed bread to the ducks and geese. In the winter, it’s a popular place for outdoor ice skating.

Pooch Playland Dog Park - Nice secluded park overlooking Lake Connie with two fenced in areas for dogs to run and play

Runestone Park - Little pocket park located on the east end of Alexandria. Features a giant replica of the Kensington Runestone with monuments containing information and it’s translation to English. Benches, picnic tables and flower beds also located at the park.

Alexandria City Park - Located between Lake Henry and Lake Agnes. No lifeguards present

Rotary Beach - Located between Lake Carlos and Lake L ‘Homme Dieu on County Road 42. No lifeguards present.

Chippewa Park Beach - Located in Chippewa County Park, Brandon MN. No lifeguards present.

Lake Carlos State Park Beach - Located inside Lake Carlos State Park. Vehicle passes required for entry into the park. No lifeguards present.

Lake Le Homme Dieu Beach - Located on the southern end of the lake. Lifeguard staff is present at this location.

Lake Latoka Beach - Located on the north side of Lake Latoka. Lifeguard staff is present at this location.

Alexandria Golf Club - 18 hole golf course that has matured into one of the finest tracks in outstate Minnesota. The course offers challenges to players of all abilities.

Atikwa Golf Course - This newly renovated 18-hole golf course was designed with wetland preservation in mind and focuses on scenic lake views and unique challenges.

Geneva Golf Club - Geneva Golf Club is a Joel Goldstrand designed 27-hole championship course.

Hardwood Hills Golf Course - a 9-hole golf facility that is nestled in the rolling hills between Lakes Mary and Lobster and adjacent to Mill Lake.

Lake Miltona Golf Club - an 18 hole public golf course that is located in the Alexandria lake and cabin country.

Minnewaska Golf Club - 18 hole golf course overlooking one of the largest lakes in the state of Minnesota.

Nordic Trails Golf Course - Nordic Trails Golf Course is a beautifully maintained Executive (9 hole – par 32) golf course just minutes from downtown Alexandria.

Pezhekee Golf Course - 18-hole course featuring fairways through maple, basswood and oak woods, suspension bridges, deck bridges, wildflower areas, prairie ponds, varied natural terrain, and views of Lake Minnewaska.

Pine Ridge Golf Course - 9-hole course located in Evansville. Trees, water hazards and well-maintained greens make this course a good play for all skill levels.

Red Rock Golf Course - privately owned 9-hole golf course which challenges any player. Experience the unexpected relaxed style that will bring you back to play it again.

Alexandria Golf Club - Home to the Clubhouse Bistro, open seasonally.

Bellas on Broadway - extensive menu includes steak, fish, burgers, our famous pasta, and much more.

La Ferme - open for both lunch and dinner offering fresh, seasonal ingredients from area farmers.

Bug-a-Boo Bay - Caribbean themed restaurant with diverse menu.

Carlos Creek Winery - Food served Friday-Sunday.

The Depot Express - unique depot atmosphere. Dine inside or outside (weather permitting)
