Come enjoy an evening in the park by candlelight. Snowshoe or ski the trails, where you will be guided by the moon and candle luminaries. Then come warm up by the wood stove or enjoy snacks and refreshments in the Lakeview warming shelter.
There will be approximately 1.5 miles of cross-country ski trail that starts at the boat access area near the lower campground. In addition, the roughly 1.3-miles of snowshoe trail starts in the beach parking lot near the Lakeview Warming Shelter and is suitable for beginner-level snowshoers of all ages. Snowshoes can be rented at the park the night of the event on a first come first serve basis for $6/pair.
The evening wraps up with a cup of hot cocoa or cider near a crackling bonfire.
There is no cost for this event, but a Minnesota state parks vehicle permit is required to enter the park ($7/day or $35/year).
Save time: Get vehicle permits and ski passes in advance online
A vehicle permit is required to enter Minnesota state parks. Although permits are available at the park, save time by getting one in advance. Visit mndnr.gov/reservations, log in (or create an account), click on “entry permit,” select a duration of “one-day” ($7) or “year-round” ($35), and continue as directed. An email will be sent with a permit that can be printed and displayed in vehicles during park visits.
Those age 16 and older will also need the Great Minnesota Ski Pass if they plan to cross-country ski. The Great Minnesota Ski Pass ($6 for a day, $20 for one season or $55 for three
