1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Start your year off right, by coming to the park for a First Day Hike or snowshoe, if the conditions allow for it. If so, snowshoes will be provided for those that need them. The naturalist will take you out on a winter adventure to see the sights. A frozen lake, a snow swept prairie, or a few snow glistened trees are not out of the question. While exploring, we will look at the history of the park, its natural resources, and cultural significance. This nature hike is sure to have something for everyone.
Be at Lake View Group Camp by 1pm for the guided hike or come in anytime to start the year off on the right foot by going for a walk, run, snowshoe, ski, skate, sledding or any other snow activities on your own. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring snowshoes or a camera if you like. Please call the park for more information regarding this event and the activities as the date approaches.
Registration is required for renting snowshoes. Please call the park to register or for more information. Participants over the age of 16 who will be on skis will need a Minnesota Ski Pass. You can purchase a day pass at the office for $6 or an annual pass for $20. Hikers and snowshoers do not need a ski pass.
There is no cost for this event, but a Minnesota state parks vehicle permit is required to enter the park ($5/day or $25/year).
