We are heading into a chilly and snowy part of this rollercoaster start to 2024. The warm weather and lack of snow in January, February and March had many looking to Spring activities. Don’t lose hope, there’s still plenty to do in the Alexandria area! The following list are things you can do regardless of what Mother Nature rolls out this weekend and beyond.

- Schedule a visit to Escape Room Alexandria: Named as one of the top escape rooms in the upper Midwest, you will enjoy getting your chance at being a real detective. Along with your group, explore themed rooms, find clues & solve logic and analytical puzzles to escape.

- Visit the Runestone Museum: Since it was unearthed back in 1898 the Kensington Rune Stone has been an intriguing, yet controversial artifact. Claiming to be left in Minnesota by Middle-Age Nordic explorers in 1362, it is a focal point of the museum, but only one of many exhibits worth visiting in person.

- Take A Walk in the Park: Douglas County is home to more than 2400 acres of parks. With Lake Carlos State Park at the top of the list, several county parks including Kensington Rune Stone Park, Lake Brophy Park and Spruce Hill Park are among our favorites. In town Alexandria City Park is a favorite to just sit and relax, or to play pickleball at one of the 8 outdoor courts. You can also enjoy a walk around Big Ole Park along the Central Lakes and Lake Agnes trails that intersect right behind our 28-foot viking, Big Ole.

- Hook and Slice golf simulator: The Alexandria Area sports a number of golf simulators, but its newest one adds a few more options because of it’s bar and restaurant. With 4 golf bays that provide an elevated golf simulator experience and plenty of space to relax before or after your round, this is a place to check out any time of the year.

- Shop Downtown Region: Downtown Alexandria is home to boutiques, antiques and things that are unique. For starters, enjoy more than a dozen clothing store options like Creative Touch Boutique to Kindred People or The Dashery, to a variety of interesting antique and home decor stores like Past & Present Home Gallery, Yesterdays or Bazara. If you want unique there’s always the Scandinavian Gift Shop, Dawn’s Quilt Shop or Magpie. You can also get a good meal at Travelers Inn, The Garden Bar or Casa Jalisca to name a few, or a hot coffee from Common Grounds, Hello Beautiful or Deja Bleu.
