5. Historic Downtown

Downtown Alexandria is teeming with lush history and some of the best locally-owned shops and restaurants around. It is exciting to see a city of this size with such a large, quaint and progressive downtown while keeping all the historical charm intact. You’ll definitely admire all the beautiful historic buildings when you explore Downtown Alexandria. Fresh out of a new redesign in 2014, visitors can enjoy new amenities like beautiful new flower baskets, planter beds, newly designed sidewalks and planted trees all along the downtown stretch of Broadway Street.

Along with all the great shops, restaurants and entertainment, the Downtown Merchants Association also puts on great events throughout the year. Make sure to check our events calendar to find all the upcoming events in the Alexandria area.

  1. Beautiful pictures of our favorite town. The picture of the
road between Lakes Le Homme Dieu & Carlos was amazing.
I couldn’t wait to see where that picture was taken and when I found out we have taken that road lots. Sure looks beautiful from the air.
