The Central Lakes Trail is a 55-mile paved trail stretching through the heart of west-central Minnesota, offering scenic views, small-town charm, and year-round recreation. Passing directly through Alexandria, it’s a favorite for biking, walking, and exploring the lakes area.

About Central Lakes Trail

The Central Lakes Trail is a former railroad route turned into a paved bike trail that runs 55 miles total through 3 counties and 10 communities. The trail spans from the city of Fergus Falls, runs through the beautiful Alexandria lakes area and ends in the city of Osakis, where it connects to the Lake Wobegon Trail. Trail users will enjoy the many differing landscape views ranging from dozens of lakes, open grassland & prairie, wetlands, farmland, and forested rolling hills. Cruise by 9 lakes within a 4-mile radius of Alexandria’s Downtown trailhead!
