The Root Beer Lady tells the inspiring story of Dorothy Molter, the legendary Root Beer Lady, who was the last legal non-Indigenous resident of the Boundary Waters. A fascinating woman who carved her own path in a world dominated by men, Molter became a folk hero, around whom a rich mythology was born.
Funny, passionate, and fiercely independent, THE ROOT BEER LADY dives into her remarkable life, exploring her fortitude, love of nature, and the pushback against the notion that her time in the North Woods made her “The Loneliest Woman in America,” as the Saturday Evening Post once labeled her. This is the story of a woman who, against all odds, thrived and became a symbol of strength and perseverance.
