Autumn is in the air! Now that school is back in session and Labor Day has come, we are on the cusp of another spectacular fall season in Alexandria. Regardless of the intensity of the hues, one thing is always for sure… slightly cooler temperatures make for a perfect outdoor excursion!
When it comes to the timing and intensity of the fall colors, there are many things to consider from precipitation, to sunshine, wind and more. Typically the best times to see fall colors in the Alexandria area are from mid/late September to early October. We will keep you updated periodically on the color conditions in the area, as sometimes the window to view autumn hues is longer than you may expect. The following pictures were taken over the first weekend in September:
The sumac along the trails is typically one of the first to change. As you can see, they are already displaying some red colors.
