Alexandria Area Lakes forming Good Ice

The ice around the Alexandria Area is shaping up nicely.  There is around 8 inches of ice on most of the lakes.  Of course there are some thinner areas that froze over later, but for the most part you can find good fishable ice on most of the lakes… but still use extreme caution and know where you are and what ice thickness is around!

A majority of the reports have been pretty good for walleye and panfish. Getting enough for a meal hasn’t been too difficult.  I’ve had my best luck in 18 foot of water with a minnow and a plain hook or a jigging spoon and a minnow head.

It looks like we are supposed to have another good weekend for getting out on the ice.  Check the ice thickness as you go and use caution! Take your time and have fun!
