Big Ole through the Years

A large, colorful statue of a Viking warrior—known as "Big Ole" through the years—stands on a street median, surrounded by vintage cars, streetlights, and buildings under a blue sky with scattered clouds.

A true landmark for the Alexandria Area, residents and visitors alike take pride and have fun with our 28 foot tall statue standing guard on the shores of Lake Agnes. As a symbol of a unique and controversial American discovery story, one thing is for sure…Big Ole is also a symbol of our community through time. While his 51 year history has been challenging at times, Alexandria has always and will always rise up for our favorite giant Viking!
