To all the student athletes, coaches, families and friends visiting for the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League Championship — welcome to Alexandria.
Whether this is your first time in Alexandria or you’ve been visiting for years, we hope you can take some time to enjoy lake country.
Spend some time on the water. Drop a line, relax at the beach or paddle across one of the Alexandria area’s 300 lakes. Bring your own or rent a kayak or paddleboard from Hang Loose MN.
Explore the Central Lakes State Trail, Lake Carlos State Park, Lake Brophy County Park and Kensington Rune Stone Park by bike or on foot to take in the beauty of the area.
Learn about the people, places and stories that shaped the region at the Legacy of the Lakes Museum, Runestone Museum and the Douglas County Historical Society.
Challenge your teammates to a go-kart race at Casey’s Amusement Park, solve puzzles at the Alexandria Escape Room or tee off at Hook and Slice.
Stroll Downtown Alexandria, where you’ll find locally owned boutiques, specialty shops and quaint spots for a coffee or bite to eat. Stop by the Hub Visitor and Resource Center for local recommendations, maps and guides to help make the most of your visit. While you’re downtown, don’t forget to snap a photo with Big Ole, Alexandria’s iconic Viking statue.
Unwind at a local winery, brewery or distillery after a day at the shooting park.
When it’s time to eat, you’ll find everything from classic breakfast diners to burgers, pizza, outdoor patios and family-friendly restaurants.
Don’t forget dessert. A stop at Up North Ice Cream or Sugar Shack is a favorite summer tradition.
Looking for even more things to do? Browse the Explore Alexandria event calendar or stop by the Explore Alexandria booth (A11) at Alexandria Shooting Park for local recommendations and visitor guides.
Best of luck, trap shooters. We hope you enjoy your time in lake country.
